GRAVEBORNE : Pure Negativity (Chronique CD)

THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST
link : English Version

THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES REQUEST

Convenes the hell, fall in this downward spiral, pitching and swallows, this snake blends in you, split you, it is no coincidence if it comes to you, swallows you, then, you’ll never be the same…
Dark alarm, the “Kilchu” penetrating quickly in my blood, pagan lights out, here we again are burning the witches…The iced cross and wood churches vanish in smoke, this is not a game, it is black as soot, this is the essence of Black Metal, this sublime curse born in the Scandinavian ice.
I would not die to Hyvinkää…
First offering (after a “Astrade Over the Grave” demo in 2009) from the Finns GRAVEBORNE, “Pure Negativity” (recorded by Pentele, mixed by Matias Helle to Drop Hammer Studio, Mastered by Jaakko Viitalahde with a superb Artwork of Markus Räisänen) is a Machine of Annihilation, pernicious Trojan’s horse, which distills a Satanic poison, in the greater tradition of raw Black Metal, forged in the heat of the darkness, ode to the real Malefic.
“Pure negativity”. Everything is said.
Dig your grave because this music catch you (What a Trip !), this does not forgive. “Metamorphoses” announces hostilities, rapid and concise, dice these first 3 mn, it shouts “Victory”! Unleashed but melodic, powerful with signs, haunting, this Black Metal is racy. Legitimate son of Gorgoroth and Marduk, this black mass deserves. Sensitive souls refrain (me, I’m crazy, I am already on the other side…), this album is absolutely dantesque and will provide the emotions due to this kind of music, this fresh perception of spiritual communion…
Raato (vocal) inhabited voice takes the listener in a whirlwind of feelings, as do workers, the excellent Zingultus and also inspired German Endstille, play his life with his screams, fulfilling the dark and forbidden rituals (“Sinister Moon”).
Martial and therefore any Germanic, “Nocturnal” is a hypnotic battleground, riffs that knock out all futile resistors. Mid-tempo killers for the strong “Dark Clouds Of Pestilence” and “Sacrilegious” to “gradually” lobotomie our little accustomed neurons has such a treatment. It swims in limbo, it breaks. Vacuum, living space, creation of all things.
Never is bored, never it regretted as the song “Aokigahara”, demonstration of a band that welded speaking the same language (Marchosias – Guitar, Pentele – Drums, Raato – Vocals, Brutalust – Guitar, Kalmo – Bass), dedicated the luminescent entity of the body and soul to the black arts.
Lost humanity and stillborn choice, the future has the colour of this “Dark Matter” to the melodic inventiveness, constantly renewed, drilling in the bitter sea of the despair. This time, embraced by these sad arpeggios, we would like this never ceases…As death… But the night-awakening will be painful, “The Covenant” un-grace any hope of repentance and damned the sleep on the slab. Burned deeply by this harsh blows, loose all hope, I also bow before it.
Pure True Black Metal, luridus as anger, without compromise and vindictive, born a new Monster Metal (the beast who was forth still has many beautiful remains…).

BATTLECROSS : Pursuit Of Honor (Chronique CD)

PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH...

Alors quoi ?
Alors tant pis, prise de risque minimum, no pain no gain.

PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH…
“Here we go, lets listen to this album … a delicate intro, no doubt, these proud “vikings”, they has conquered in a bloodbath the new territories, raping, looting, burning on behalf of Odin and sowing fear for many generations…”
Eh, what…? Damned, What Is This…??
I remain surprised when bouncing the second song “Push Pull Destroy”, with its abrasive voice and its typical rhythms, its proud calvacades and bitumen production…It Is American Thrash , and not a another band of viking metal as the precisely suggested the name of the combo.
AAAAAAAAAAAArgghh (Translate : Thrash Till’ Death…!), BATTLECROSS (newly signed with Metal Blade Records) proposes its “Pursuit Of Honor” (no, it’s not the new Amon Amarth… however, I’d prefer “Push Pull Destroy”, more appropriate name…). This thrash metal which is not really dying, Thrash Metal is still standing, but the number of labelled exits “Nike Or Die” reach the tire and annoy the cannibal cockroach of music metal that I am.
Then what?
Nothing in this album finds my jubilation, nothing will allow this second album of Battlecross, created in 2003, to sense this small extra (the small supplement of soul) emotions that pull it to “Moshy Metal Mass”. Certainly, they know the fundamental (Atheist or Gorefest), while they live in 2011 (Black Maria Murder), certainly the album devastates ears for almost 37 minutes (“Man Of Stone”, angry) but God, this Thrashy-melodeath-Core is tiresome.
Sold as a mix of Testament and an epileptic Terror 2000 (or Children Of Bodom, make your choice…).
Technical and default (in the will), some tracks deserve even the detour (“Rupture” to the devastating breaks) or “Leech”, heavy and devastating punk, but the first impression remains tenacious, I have already heard it a thousand times. If only we had more killer songs, as the sulphur “Misery”, indisputable success of the album… but with “If”…
Then what? Then maybe the worse, minimum risk, no pain no gain.
And when it comes to Detroit (mother-hometown of Electricity sold as vinyl, remember of The Stooges…), it is not my small column which will frighten them. But I just hope a little bit more to these Guys’ next album.

THE RITUAL : Beyond The Fragile Horizon (Chronique CD)

Don't matter
My eyes have seen For better Out of blue comes green

Radieux-

Don’t matter
My Eyes have seen for better Out of Blue comes Green
Big sensation of heavy-thrash-power-metal for this retracted autumn, bow - and here before us THE RITUAL (signed Bakerteam Records, a subsidiary of the very estimated mother-house Scarlet Records) formed in 2002 by Marco Obice and Luca De Vito, aspiring to mix various influences in their music entity, thrash metal, with an incisive statement of high dose of “core” melodies positioning by a more aggressive Trivium or even a less pubescent Sonic Syndicate, fashion in sum. After the first demo made in 2008, here is the concocted result by the 2 childhood friends, meanwhile joined by drummer Vito Luca and Marco Pastorino to the lead guitars and choirs.
…”Music for young people…”
First it made me doubt a bit, will I support Sonic “Metalcorism” procrastination and other epileptic deflagrations (there is a single DragonForce, and so much the better…) in a brouhaha sound at the limit of the stereo overdose, where am I going to access of mercy and give a chance to this young hungry gang?
After many attentive wiretappings, the album becomes more sharp to me (“Shoot Me” and its solos in cobwebs), when it kills its deadly rhythmics (“Show me What You can Do”, a power single) and I begin to believe that this band, THE RITUAL, knows me.
“Jason On The River” and its unstoppable chorus, the suave “Together” (A7X is not far away) or “The Liar”, more Metallica in the soul with these solos knit a stairway to the sky, just a few piano notes, a few discrete keyboards and the convincing voice to finish to erect this sympathetic metal pyramid.
The significant electrical addition comes by Marco Pastorino (from the talented Secret Sphere), he is certainly the icing on the cake, so much his drenched demonstrations gives the feeling to be on the top for this band.
Large production work at Authoma Studios of Federico Pennazzato (Secret Sphere, Sadist…), mastered by Simone Mularoni (DGM), the result is this first album of these Italians! it’s also under a very nice package (Nerve Design: Nile, Vision Divine etc…). … even if it does not revolutionize the scenes and even if it speaks to a younger hungry audience for “wired news” (great God, where I have passed my 20 years…?), but sometimes we focus enough to advise fans of Brainstorm, Mendeed, Avenged Sevenfold, Firewind and Artillery: but hey, this album has a very very good sound!
This is not a Testament but a promise of hope:
Beyond the fragile horizon, there is a future.
Glorious-

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE : Agony (Chronique CD)

Penitence (et réconciliation...) : FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE

IVAN MIHALJEVIC : Destination Unknown (Chronique CD)

A hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore seems I'm not alone in being alone...

Doigts d'or.
Oui, juste partageons.

“A hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore seems I’m not alone in being alone…”
Along the Sava, how can you imagine that I don’t think of you, how would you prove otherwise…?
I would not expect July 2013 (Shy Europe…) and I will clamour so here’s my love of this beautiful country that is Croatia, my Slavic Soul otherwise wouldn’t forgive me. Imagine, a musician leading the destinies of a noble and proud country isn’it the best of the hope for the human race….? just cogitate…
I would not expect the cover of Kerrang or of Guitar World (remember Johnny Winter in the first one) to shout my deep devotion from prodigy guitarist, singer, keyboarder, author-composer IVAN MIHALJEVIC gifted with this new album “Destination Unknown”required already as a safe value (go, not modesty: invaluable), veritable Goldsmith with the magic touch, raising to the highest level, alongside Richie Kotzen, Steve Vai and other Pat Metheny.
Fingers of gold.
Undisputed leader of the Side Effects after shone in his combo of milk Hard Time and magnified his chips electrical projects (Paul Gilbert, Billy Sheehan, Brett Garsed, Phil Hilborne, Paul, John Denner etc), this new album of IVAN MIHALJEVIC is simply staggering.
Navigating between Nickelback (“Instant star” and “The Curse, wish him a such a global success…”) or the “Choosh pies”‘s Crimsonnien, the isosceles trio, formed by Majkl Jagunic (bass), Alen Frljak (drums and percussion) and amazing Ivan Mihaljevic, offers a anthology of what an artistic soul may mean, this free-jazz mentality that would have not certainly reneged Ornette Coleman, the precursor. Dark song of gesture in the pure line of a Blind Guardian (“Shadows”) or its corollary “The Pirate Song”(“Satrianienne’s auvergne dance from hell”) surfing here and there in soft metal memories, the dexterity and feeling are here a beautiful spark (“Dreamscapes”, an epic instrumental).
And even more… something else can be noted, which is not any less: the voice! Hot, etincellante, inhabited, it is also the other indispensable instrument in this record, more low and maintained that can even invoke the ghost of Kurt in Detroit (encouraging the Croatian poet to continue in this direction), grunge lungs but ardent breath, behaved metal and rock, groove muscles (Your plane Flew Away) or introspective (Sorry part II), everything is here, so obvious as the air of Anathema.
Clear and powerful, and so is the production, too, and I still wonder…
“Hollow Wish” will illustrate our buried wishes, no doubt this music will talk about it more than the vain words of the old poets… IVAN MIHALJEVIC is one of those troubadours, his word, his music is sacred (just listening – singing, listening – do to groan his guitar, pouring his heart…)
Adriatic metal in its eruptions and electrical flow, the indomitable freedom, this discontent hunger, mother of genius creators in the service of humanity, the visionary on dictatorial bases, sowing the wind of peace, love and sharing.
Sweet Paola, when you listen to this music, it is really what it is, we and a few other thousands know that… and share this happiness. Yes, just go and share.

LORD VOLTURE : Never Cry Wolf (Chronique CD)

WITH URANIAN WILLY, WE WILL SCAMPER WITH DIAMOND DOGS…
I crossed seven provinces to find you…
Brown Amanda, know you criyng in the hollow of my shoulder, this frigid deep forest as a shroud, under the blighted Moon I am really myself, the vial in the hollow of your breasts containing a few drops of blood, calling your ancestral hunger, rip-up my soul a little more… Dark Amanda, if in my throat you bit, gives you, and I ‘ll devour you under the prying eyes of my wolves brothers. And we will be immortal. And if we are not gods, we will be Messiahs…
Lord Volture.
While screaming, this ode to the wonderful, this “Dutch” Pack of conquering hounds are pacifying its territory by a more beautiful manner with this new, second album, “Never Cry Wolf” with its lavish package (Sonata Artica depression….) and it is necessary to give here the “NBT”-mark (Now – Big – Thing) which you will have to count on.
Forged with passion, this Metal, as Excalibur, breezes rocks, fending armor. Never before the Heavy-Metal has rightly brought this name, mixing and braving the past decades and imposing themselves today in this fake world (thanks again Steve Jobs…) as bravado, a cry of non-renoncement, an invigorating breath… “Fuck guys, I could die for metal…!” (Manowar knows what I mean…).
Epic, tripe and intense, the absolutely incredible voice of David Marcelis (just inhuman) leaves no loophole, swollen throat rip-up his soul, he embodies this irreducible music. Since “His Holiness” Udo or its inhabited Ronny Hemlin (ex-Steel Attack), nothing so powerful had tangled the ozone layer (let Judas pray…) We burn, and it is of molten lava which has expired in this monstrous album…
Not unnecessary enumeration (if this is the monumental appearance of Sean Peck, US Cage Monster for the piece “Into The Lair of a Lion”, absolute roll-compressor), the course of these 11 songs controlled by a group of predators that play their lives, while here it is dantesque (my God, this voice, these majestic arpeggios, these cannibalistic solis…). Here we are talking about a real creator work, of a voluntary assumption of writing a new chapter in the history of this music that we love so much, this music finally makes us stand still upright in life.
This blues is radicalized, it is called now Heavy-Metal- Lyrical in its approach to melodic and sharp as a thrash feeling good tar, vintage in its mood, LORD VOLTURE here back in history with a big H. H as Heavy. The student has exceeded the masters (Iced Earth or well still Accept and bet that Blaze Bayley should be proud, noble metal never dies). Basic / sublimated minor Sixtus, strings that distort your soul, the children of Black Sabbath and the Who are our Electric magicians of our troubled periods. They indicate a cap, a priesthood: Never Surrender!
The flesh has no need of clothes, listen to this music, it is sweat, these are tears, blood and skin. These musicians have made in it, it is, you can feel it the eyes closed.
And if they are not the gods, they will be Messiahs?
This Heavy-Metal will and can save your life…

ACHREN : The Forgotten King (Chronique CD)

“If you like, you can get my dvd of Saw and I Spit On Your Grave…”
“or if not, I’d be obligated to cut your throats and making out your intestines with my teeth..!”

This kindness is summing up the sweet impression that provides the listening to this first album of ACHREN, “The Forgotten King” (recorded in Scotland, mixed at Drop Hammer Studios in Finland by Matias Helle and mastered at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden by Jens Bogren), bellicose croc-magnon excavated in 2003 from Glasgow, calling their Thrash-Black metal with the sweet name of “Blood Metal” (the same one that Manowar did not dare), gambling with a perverse pleasure and feeding our hearing to be conducted sensitively by the recent House Of Lords or Reckless Love, a sweet cherry pie but not of the same cheese shop as vindictive scottish, and there, you really see the shock…
Therefore the abrasive (as a pelvic wax hair removal, imagine…), having the roots in the cellar, the THX for trisomies, black metal! (what else?) Then, nothing new under the Sun (or under the ceiling), it is brutal as possible, but God it is good! It emerges as spined-dry, leached, almost actively bleached and this total willingness to let speak the powder, with a production at the candle, in manners than the major Scandinavian brothers have dictated once… Not so basic Brutal, because each song hides treasures of intelligence with pulsanting and frenetic solo guitar (“Bastards on the Gallows”… or “Darkest Day”) with its battered skins that one would think it’s coming out of a dark German forest.
Black but Thrash, Thrash but Death, with a small twist vintage made in 80′s shittiest step (“Fuck It Hard” and the punk “Fury Of The Northmen”, amazing with its insistent gimmick and with these heavy deflagrations), it is crazy but not reduced to the first alarm at the first Immortal and Marduk, the feeling to live something rare and intense at the same time, this hair bristling on the skin and the fiercely smile…
The rest of the comments go without saying… it’s torpedo, it grooves as a fragmentation bomb, it’s preaching to the Sabbath, the Scottish malt. Terrorizer cuties can be jubilant, these Scottish reckless will make the difference. Hungry crabs of the planks with Morbid Angel, Dismember or Destruction, these suckers are impregnated elders and gently hoist but surely at the top of the poster (already available dvd, “Bloodstock Open air 2010 since January 2011″).
Direct and without frills, the album (or the chainsaw, it is you who decide) will cross you and your tip of breath, you’ll be certainly exhausted but full of the good old black metal of death. No doubt, not the surprise of the century (Shining is been there before), ACHREN is a band with exponential potential, uncontrollable virus, acceptable barbarism, whose motto could be “impaling for better reign.”
This metal have the taste of caustic soda.
Bad medicine but finally it is the only one I really need.

DALAGAN (Chronique CD)

Breaking the chains and surfing with the white snake : Ce psychotrope a un nom : DALAGAN

("Change The World", et ce bluesy solo incandescant).

Breaking the chains and surfing with the white snake: this psychotropic has a name: DALAGAN

Californian wine, chancelant candles and dawn to a night of satin coming…(the young lady blushes…) …When you have exhausted all Whitesnake, these real filters of love, like so many petals of roses stroking her scented skin…And when even the last great King Kobra devilishly was the case, then this DALAGAN, what a feat! (the young lady agreed).
Switzerland but not stingy in light, powerful compositions with the “Vanderbergien” and “Satrianien” solos, LAZY DALAGAN, escaped virtuoso shredder from the M.A.I (where the other fine triggers have furbish weapons and fondled many hexagonal souls), prolix musician (author, composer, singer, guitarist and more) feeds his spirited music that balances, that grooves, which is the property there where it passes which slides alone in providing the same satisfaction as the last George Lynch, in brief, all good.
Navigating between the 80′s type hard rock and a more sharp metal (“Fear” or “Do It Now”), more “Germanic” in its sharpness and in vocal and rhythmic lines, we balance here even between a Dokken who would have found his superb and a softer but still dangerous Accept….
Catchy in its fur (look well at the bottom, it hides a diamond) and sexy in its swaying hips DALAGAN (welding band) is known to be more venomous (the title “Miracle”, just “Schadenfreude”), adventurous and spirited (“Chase Off My devil”, the iron Virgin lying in the corner…), and also convene some (too) anonymous ghosts of the past (the franco-American XYZ group) both survive this delicate European charm and at the same time this Californian candor arises as a combo to be followed very closely (wish him wider exposure in the meaning and media & recommend him a more voluntary approach regarding his rather anorexic official sites…), an initial appointment which will call the next ones (for sure, the young lady likes that).
Immediate pleasure with these concise compositions which quickly find the way to our hearts and memories, efficient refrains and luminescent riffs (“Halloween” and its fiery solos), while here is sensuous and biting, hot as embers, incisive like the moon on our cleared body, this night, you and me on the sand listening to the ocean, listening… (“Change The World”, and this bluesy solo incandescent). Sensual but warrior scratches are also embracing all, and the song “Killing to feel Alive” still once distils a dear spirited atmosphere to Dave Murray and others, like Adrian Smith.
Lazy (in fact, lazy not at all!) neither one-armed (hé hé), he brews the best out of the six-string, and he intersects landfills revered electric former Van Halen or Deep Purple (“Wild White Horse”) and one drowned in the inmost depths of a “Zeppelinnesque” metal (“Fade Away”).
Then finally he wakes, approved but pleased, because this meeting by chance shows seeds of happiness, and this chance, unhoped Kiss, leave on your face eternally a radiant smile (the young lady embraces me). Gold bar, this DALAGAN’s album is a beautiful surprise (very beautiful package but also could take ownership of the second album of the Lillian Axe, without the slightest problem), positively essential and musical vitamin that will make your life much more enjoyable.
And it is in free sale.
LAZY DALAGAN, dealer of happiness…

EDGUY : Age Of The Joker (Chronique CD)

SUPER ZEROES

The yellow emergency truck of INEM, stationed all bawling fires and annoys therefore my Sunday afternoon relaxing on my flowery terrace because low turns off neighbour (a bloody idiot) of irritating agonies, which stress me again, and because an vindictive Sun melts much too fast (to my taste) the cubic ice cube of my friendly vodka, adding to the Berezina. This infamous shit played in my mp3-player, which digs more my wrath and my disgust tickle.
Great God, you did not sold your soul to the devil under the musical incantations of Black Sabbath for today to support such a disgusting mixture by the overestimated and tiring Tobias Sammet, totalitarian leader of EDGUY, which today I strike his new mischief “The Age Of Joker”, ninth cake blister (heavy-metal for Dummies) which is a brilliant as an oil gull (“Robin Hood” which opens the auditory massacre), burn our last hopes with this sad announced degeneration of the traditional heavy-metal. It is clear, it’s lacking some “balls”..!
And bizarrely after the rather light Avantasia part 4, you can feel the permeates. Syndrome of the “Scorpions” (with them Edguy made a tour of 8 dates in Germany in 2010), which loses its Darter and becomes harmless, EDGUY cracks everywhere and increasingly looks like the Saxon of the 1980s (not the most glorious era…).
Not Queensryche or Maiden still less Dio (even if the major and notable album asset remains Peppermint Park Studios production, enough vintage indeed, particularly in parts of drums sound decision-making, here true success) the again convened Joker (under the carpet from “Mandrake” in 2001) is stealing the development of pretention and experiments (it is still far from King Crimson) at the edge of kitsch (“Rock Of Cashel” and its moods Celtic and the “Pandora’s Box” of western atmosphere with Resonata guitar). Heavy-metal junk, fun Skunk, when it loses its hair it should consider retirement right away…
More melodic and playful than “Tinnitus Sanctus” of 2008, who dared the development of a new recipe, this Joker irritates and does merit good slams in the face, nothing else. It is the metal of motorway, music for shellfish, bio sound when we need more blood… Certainly, they will sell whole trucks ( block borders!) and everybody is happy and content.
The (good) music lovers, it would be tasteless to hang or to recover once again a good old Blue Cheer, true fathers of heavy metal, which should have once drown all their future bastards, if only they had known…
Avid metal Feisal, dick into the air and long teeth, just go on the new album (Kicking & Screaming) of the great eternal hungry hangover, Sebastian Bach, a pure, a tough and forget fast-fact EDGUY, the Michael Bolton of heavy-metal.
Too much cream, too much sugar, in short, food for 3rd age.
Adipose superheros…

MALFEITOR : To Hell, Farewell (Chronique CD)

Death, The dead and me, tout un programme.

Back to the fundamentals.

When the cellar were slimy of sweat, when all the walls were malted saliva and covered with posters in the colours of Possessed or Napalm Death, when worms filled abandoned residues of sandwiches…you know, when you are the rage in the stomach, you’re not hungry…
Returning therefore after the break in the mid-1990s voracious MALFEITOR, hungry as hyenas, hacked to pieces with barbed grunts and with murderous rhythmic banging our vertebrae without mercy. Presented as a limited demo you can order directly on tillyoufukkinbleed@wp.pl. The 6 titles, including the bonus “the bread Collector” are making your face to rasp against a plaster wall, and here I’ve used yet a very simplistic term.
If you look well, you can see my ears bleeding…both for the auditory rape to reduce sensations and for danceable Venom or Terrorizer, this impression of luxury, calm and voluptuousness…
Brutal! and then the production ad hoc, the Swedish made “To Hell, Farewell”reappears enjoyable memories, this time Death Metal is to relieve its glorious elders (from Black Sabbath to Thrash-Metal) and to widen the solid foundations of today, major and ever resurgent (from Death to In Flames).
Here are its roots, raw and bloody.
Infantry without mercy the upcoming album entitled “Dum Morior Orior” has been announced for the first quarter of 2012, and it may be already defeated. Intensive bombardment of these 6 titles will not leave no survivors. Infuriate as the U.S. combos (Deicide or Immolation) and frosty as the waters of the Baltic Sea, these chromatic bandits manage their hold-up and we abide thus in a position of unbearable wait when their next musical mischief.
Death, The dead and me, a program.

NOCTEM : Oblivion (Chronique CD)

They forgot His deeds And His miracles that He had shown them.
Psaulme 78:11

Roots, bloody Roots...

They forgot His deeds And His miracles that He had shown them. Psalm 78: 11
Friend, know first that I am not made of wood, but of corn. I am therefore for perfection…
Second part of the trilogy with Divinity (2009), the Spanish NOCTEM sink here the nails and release a superb album of Black-death metal to a high standard, which no doubt it is a must as the Latin response to all the “Behemoth” of the planet.
Referring to the sacred texts about mythological Maya “Popol Vuh” (a pre-Colombian bible refers to the origin of man), NOCTEM with strength and brio demonstration extent its technical nature and the brightness of the musical comments leave here our mouth gaping. It is dark and majestic metal in question, wealth sharing, for a true trip alongside of people (Quiché), of a civilization, of Kings and Gods.
“OBLIVION” was engraved at Ultrasound Studios 2 in Portugal under the eye of the guru Daniel Cardoso (Angelus Apatrida, Ava Inferi), wearing the beautiful artwork, created by the talented Brazillian artist Marcelo Vasco (Dark Funeral, Belphegor etc), is permanently a high quality “Dantesque” album, which in each new listening offers treasures of intelligence. Powerful, sleek, ever since the latest Behemoth (and Nile in a Death Register) I had felt such emotions.
This “Empirical” metal, because most higher than the Tower of Babel, heavier than any pyramids, more flamboyant than the “Nuestra Senora de atocha”, this metal exceeds the rigorous framework of music and becomes by extension an incredible auditory and mental experience, an atonal psychic explosion.
The intro is almost a disturbing tribal mood, that announces the settlement. Here, Take No Prisoners, “The Arrival Of false Gods” undermine everything. Enraged Black Death, the master is perfect, the voice, Sickly & Black, irritate, wind and twist our soul. Electric lightning from the Sun and Venus, the solos, on some pachydermic rhythmic they cut all flesh.
“Universal disorder” and “Abnegation and brutality”, inhumane percussions beat, reduce our last few resistors in porridge as vindictive warriors’ screams. Clearly, this album will mark our memory with a red iron.
Well, “Invictus” (first single) advocates what it preaches. Fury fury fury. These feelings are acknowledged in the last Watain and Endstille, other dark inspired brothers. Some arpeggios convene Immortal (Q ‘uma’ rka ‘aa’ j), howling ghosts in the frost of an another time…
Epic, heavy, black-metal to deeper into his arteries, “Unredemption” leaves reveal a progression of the most beautiful theatral effect, a perfect synapse joining melody and refined brutality. Beleth (vocals) at the top from the beginning to the end, restless and gutsy (“Borning A Winged Snake” and “Oblivion”) helped by the lead guitarist in State of grace, Exo, and by the rithmic section in our imagination seeing the day to end in a Norwegian Forest, because this Scandinavian “Savia” flows, it is, in their blood.
When the latin blood mixes with the purest snow of the fjords, you touch the sublime. For all the lovers of Extreme and truely inspired music, this album is essential.
Roots bloody Roots…
